Description:
The repeater station at El Negrito is located at an elevation of 4200 meters above sea level and approximately 140 km from the city of San Miguel de
Tucumán. The inaccessibility of the mountainous terrain required pack animals to transport the equipment to the installation site.
The installation allows more than 10 communities in the Calchaquies valley
to be connected with the national communications system. Also, it allows the trasmission of all communications traffic from the Providence of Salta to the Providence of Tucumán.
Climate:
20ºC below zero with wind velocities reaching 120 km/hr.
System Components:
188 Siemens M75 solar modules, 48 Watts each 48 volts system, with 4,000 ah of battery capacity 3 Solartec system controllers
Diesel generators were installed for auxiliary power in case of prolonged bad weather.
Comments:
The installation consumes 800 Watts of constant power. The solar array produces 8400 peak Watts.
